Assessing the Relationship between Ecological Water Demand of Haloxlon ammodendron and Its Wind Erosion Prevention Effect

Desert vegetation in the outer transition zone of an arid oasis serves as a protective barrier against wind and sand, safeguarding ecosystem. However, intensive agricultural water usage within has led to depletion, posing threat survival growth desert vegetation, well associated increase sand phenomena. To ensure sustainable distribution resources maintain stability peripheral ecosystem, this study aimed investigate relationship between ecological demand its effectiveness preventing erosion. Through combination field sample tests, pit data analysis, research focused on Haloxlon ammodendron, most prevalent species periphery, explore intricate resistance The results showed that medium-vegetation-coverage soils exhibited higher soil moisture content (7.02%) compared high-vegetation-coverage (1.57%) low-vegetation-coverage (3.41%). As decreased, rate H. ammodendron’s plant height, new branches, crown width decelerated. requirement ammodendron during period was 70.95 mm under conditions, exhibiting significant 14.6% 12.3% high- respectively. Meanwhile, exhibits remarkable erosion prevention effects moderate coverage resulting reduction surface collection transport by 53.15% 51.29%, respectively, low coverage; however, no difference observed when high coverage. SEM model revealed had indirect effect (R2 = 0.90) 0.96) through three pathways action, namely: volatile content–crown rate–wind speed–sediment discharge; content–plant height rate–vegetation coverage–wind coverage–sediment accumulation. This provides valuable insights for scientific formulation implementation strategies at protecting vegetation.
